Third-Party iPhone applications, and lack there-of.
Apple’s decision not to allow third-party applications to be installed on the iPhone never bothered me, untill Today. I’ve got a modest Motorola e815. It was the king of the clamshell-phone-hill about a year and a half ago and I’ve never installed any third party apps, or even really wanted to, but today got me thinking.
My Trig class was just getting over when I had (as you can see I use the term “had” very loosely) to pull out my MacBook to add my assignments to Assignment Planner. That was the point when I realized how awesome it would be to have third-party application support.
Like always, Merlin Mann has a much better article and more indepth discusson about 3rd party development on the iPhone here.
Upgrade to 2.1 Ella
Just upgraded to WordPress 2.1 Ella on one of RockValley College’s crapsuck Gateway PII’s, using all portable apps. (portableapps.com)
The upgrade went smoother than other WordPress upgrades, so I guess that’s good. I guess image uploads have improved substancially, so I’m looking forward to experimenting with that later. Cool.
2 Hours Till Stevenote.
I know, I know. Every third blog on the internet is firing out their last minute MacWorld Expo thoughts, but I Wouldn’t be a Mac using Blogger (or blogging Mac user) if I didn’t.
Any Way, my predictions? I’d assume a new iWork ‘07, iLife ‘07, Probably a iTunes .5 update or something. I’d really like to be able to take home an iTv, but from what I’ve heard, it’s not gonna happen.
We’ll hear MORE about Leopard, but I doubt we’re takin’ that home. Also, I’m starting to doubt the announcement of a phone.
The sorrow of Ben Meyers’
This isn’t exactly how I planned on starting 2007.. But I guess I have to.
Ben Meyers Is Divorced. It’s a really terrible thing to have happened, but I guess this is how it has to go. Ben came home and we went to Zambooka and Carlyle. Had a couple beers and tired to reflect on the better things of 2006.
You’re a good friend Ben. I’m terribly sorry.
Twenty double aught seven
2006 was an intense year. Lot’s of things happened on the internet, with me, with my relationship, and with my friends. I know that there is no way I can mention every single thing that happened, but I’m going to try. If I have forgotten anything feel free to email 2006@zackisamazing.com and i’ll add it in.
Honestly, apart from Google buying YouTube, Digg hitting 600k registered users, TWiT gathering up 300k listener’s from all over the world, gmail’s getting deleted, MyDreamApp, MacHeist, stikkit.com, James Kim passing, the optimums keyboard letdown, Vista actually shipping, Apple announcing Leopard, new iPods, and the iTv, and HP stock option scandals, not that much happened as far as internet/technology this year.
Personally, I Sold the iMac went with the MacBook, then dealt with Dihn Trahn. I Treo’d, BlackBerry’d, and e815′d. I lost weight, went a year with the same car, no motorcycle, and no tickets. Had zero fast food, zero soda. I added 160 movies and TV shows to my collection via NetFlix. I turned 21, and what a bash that was, some people even say one of the best. I drank with famousness like Caleb Christiansen and The Hush Sound. I spent a fortune at Border’s, learned some C++, and drank enough coffee for a small country. I listened to too much talk radio, listened to poetry, and listened to bitchy customers. I drove countless time’s to Iowa, and got new tires.
Sunny and I had a great year as well. I came to her at school, and she came to me at home. We saw two night’s of Dave, countless Movies, and countless x2 dinners. We got a dot com, celebrated 2 years of love, and Sunny’s 20th birthday. Luis and Traci got divorced, and Luis recieved custody of Phoenix. We went to the weddings of Andy and Trish, and Dale and Sarah.
QuadForce. My God. I’m not sure exactly where to start. So much happened. 21 Kristin -> Townhouse -> Manor. Mike lost his voice. John moved here. John something’d to 700w’d and is now BlackJacking. We stayed up for 48 hours and I cut off a Cop on the Cedar Point Extravaganza. We Drove in an Battle Oven to Panic! in St. Louis. I never played the game, but the power went out. Terrific Tuesday’s are always a blast; even when Mike body slams Mig, and Amber goes missing. We started podcasting (FINALLY), we quit blogging, we dugg like hell, and duggmirrored even more. We spent 24 hours in WalMart waiting for a Wii.
Youngblood got his own apartment in the same building as Josh Vernovous, and Vance. Dane got engaged to Grace. Matt Born and I thew the Reunion of a Lifetime. Flynn got a DUI and Larson got Drunk — alot. Joel still works at Boarder’s, and I see Mike Robert’s at Carlyle.
We saw birthday cakes as Christmas presents, we podcasted, we blogged, we drank, we puked. We went to weddings, we went to graduations, we went to parties. The Bears are going to the playoff’s with home-field advantage, they beat the Packer’s and they lost to the Packer’s. The cubs lost every game and came in dead last in the NBL.
Ahh, how I will miss you 2006.
